SFTP - Upload and Download Files

Jon Gilbert Updated by Jon Gilbert

Uploading files (FileZilla)

Navigate to the files folder on the remote side

In the right panel, make sure you are inside /files. The status bar at the top should show Remote site: /files.

Select files on your local machine

In the left panel, navigate to the folder on your laptop containing the files you want to upload. Click to select one or more files.

Upload

Right-click the selected files → Upload. Or simply drag the files from the left panel to the right panel. The transfer progress will appear at the bottom of FileZilla.

Upload to /files only

You cannot upload files directly to the root / directory — it is read-only. Always navigate into the files subfolder before uploading. Attempting to upload to root will result in a permission denied error.

Downloading files (FileZilla)

Navigate to /files in the right panel, select the file(s) you want, right-click → Download. Files will be saved to your current local directory shown in the left panel.

Accessing files via RD Web (T&A Application)

Files uploaded via SFTP are immediately accessible from within the T&A application via RD Web. When using the Open File dialog inside the application, navigate to:

G:\SFTP\{your-username}\files

Any file uploaded via SFTP will appear here in real time.

There are no restrictions on file types or sizes (subject to your storage allocation). Common formats used with the T&A application include .csv, .txt, .xlsx, and .xml.
