For instructions on how to upgrade your installation of Time and Attendance 8, please take a look at our Upgrade guide by clicking here.

  1. Single Sign-On with OneAdvanced Identity

The Identity service will be available for use from Monday 28th November 2024. Customers can still upgrade or install 8.41 prior to this date in readiness to configure the service when it is available.

What have we done?

We have integrated the OneAdvanced Identity platform to provide a new login method for the T&A Web and Mobile application, which ensures secure access to your software applications, as well as, easier access to the applications you use.

Why have we done this?

The OneAdvanced Identity platform introduces Single Sign On (SSO), facilitating frictionless movement between products while leveraging your existing on-site SSO solution. Enabled with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), it sets a new standard for secure and seamless access across business applications.

Neither of these solutions are new, but in recent years they have become essential tools to protect user data and IT systems.

More details and definitions can be found in this article An Introduction to Multi-Factor Authentication & Single Sign-On

How will this benefit you?

OneAdvanced Identity will make it easy for administrators to centrally manage application access, across multiple applications.

Users will be able to securely authenticate with multiple applications by using just one set of credentials and a common user experience.

You can read more about how to use OneAdvanced Identity and the benefits here.

Details of the change

We have put together a OneAdvanced Identity Guidance article for you here.

The article will take you through things you need to consider before adopting Identity as well walking you through the process of enabling Identity in T&A.

The article also contains lots of links to related Identity help articles so that you can be fully informed.

Note:

  • The Identity service is only available for OneAdvanced hosted customers.
  • The Identity Service stores data in the UK except for our OneAdvanced hosted customers in Australia, where there is a separate instance of the Identity Service that stores data within Australia.
  1. Virus Scanning file uploads

The Virus Scanning service will be available for use from Monday 28th November 2024. Customers can still upgrade or install 8.41 prior to this date in readiness for when the service is available.

What have we done?

We have introduced a new virus scanning function in the T&A web application, which is utilised on all files uploaded into the system in the following areas:

  • Employee documents
  • Employee picture
  • Payslip management

Why have we done this?

Virus scanning files uploads has been introduced to make the application more secure and ensure we are proactively protecting customer data.

How will this benefit you?

Virus scanning at the point of upload will enable us to detect and identify known malware and viruses embedded in files before they are saved into your T&A system. This proactive detection will allow you to investigate and respond swiftly, minimising the risk of any attacks.

Details of the change

The new virus scanning function will be enabled by default in your hosted system as long the standard upgrade/install process has been followed, see below for web.config details.

Feature overview

  • New information messages will appear in the functions where files will be scanned at point of upload, so users are aware that this process will take place.
  • Whilst a file is being scanned a label named 'Scanning...' will appear under the file name.
  • During a virus scan the file is not accessible and therefore the filename hyperlink will not appear on hover.
  • The virus scan is a background process and does not interfere with the existing file upload process.
  • Users do not need to wait for virus scans to complete on each individual file they upload, once they have submitted the file for upload they can continue to upload another file or use another area of the application.
  • Once the virus scan is complete for a clean file the file is uploaded into T&A and is accessible to view.
  • If malware is detected during a scan then the record is removed from the table and the user is notified via email the file has not been uploaded.

Note:

  • The File scanning service is only available to OneAdvanced hosted customers.
  • The File scanning service stores data in the UK except for our OneAdvanced hosted customers in Australia, where the service stores data within Australia.
